Chapter 14: Ender's Teacher
1. What is the simulator? Track your answer; it will develop as you read on in this chapter. A simulator is a place where the boys had to carry out battle situations. It simulated real life battle situations with the Buggers that the boys have or might not fight with the buggers.
2. Who is Ender’s teacher? Why was he chosen? How does he explain the fact that he is still alive? Enders teacher is Mazer Rackham . Mazer is too old to command (he was kept alive via a relativity maneuver, aging eight years while the Earth passed fifty years), but he will be a great Teacher because he has experience fighting the buggers.
3. Why does Mazer Rackham say that "there is no teacher but the enemy"? Because you only learn from your mistakes, they teach you lessons, you also learn from your enemy. After they defeat you, if you were defeated, you will most likely analyze your loss and learn what you did/didn't do to lose.

6. What, according to Mazer, are Ender’s advantages and disadvantages when he faces the bugger fleet? Eros was originally a bugger colony, which is why Ender feels so uncomfortable in his surroundings there. Much of the technology that the Fleet uses now comes from things that they found on Eros, such as gravity manipulation and the use of stellar energy to black out planets. Mazer also guesses that the buggers killed the first humans they saw without realizing that they were killing intelligent life, human ships have an advantage in that each one is commanded by intelligent life.
7. "But as their trust in Ender as a commander grew their friendship...gradually disappeared....Ender was their teacher and commander, as distant from them as Mazer was from him." Why must Ender be isolated from friends? What dangers could arise from having "friendship" with those you must lead? Ender must be isolated to keep him for being comfortable and making friends, some dangers that could arise is Ender might not want to hurt them if they are close friends.
8. Describe Ender’s "final examination." How does Ender win? How is this victory like every other victory he has ever had? What does Ender discover after it is done? Were you surprised? Ender's final examination is to attack the buggers home world, Ender wins by blowing up the world. This examination is like his victory when he faced two armies in battle room. After he success the final examination he realize that it wasn't a simulator, that he was actually attack and destroy the buggers home work and they are all end up dead.
